Liebster Award!

Wow, how do I even begin! I am so thankful for having been nominated for the Liebster Award by, Ishwarya Sivakumar.

Most bloggers, at some point, have heard of or received the Liebster award, unless you are a newbie! From the extensive searches I have conducted in my attempts to learn about this award, I have visited a bunch of blogs and gleaned the following information:

  • This award exists only on the internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers.
  • It has German origins – the word “liebster” has several definitions: dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, welcome, sweetheart and boyfriend (really?)
  • It follows similar principles as a chain letter, in the sense that it should be passed forward to a certain number of people.
  • It can be misconstrued, depending upon your personal views, as either something wonderful (who doesn’t like awards?) or as an annoyance (a chain letter that involves work).
  • The choice lies within each of us to ACCEPT it, and continue PAYING IT FORWARD or to refuse to accept it, thereby STOPPING or INTERRUPTING the chain. However, if you stop the chain, you are only hurting yourself (keep reading for benefits you will have)!
  • Personal views play an important part in our choice to participate. Some people have refused to accept it and have made attempts to “break the chain”. There have been many people who have been nominated, yet refused to accept it, and now their blogs have been abandoned.
  • Variations have been made over time to the “rules”.
  • Marketing plays a role in accepting this award, as other bloggers are promoted. (This is not a bad thing, however, since people should help others!)
  • Other awards are a part of the whole “meme“. These include “One Lovely Blog Award”, the “Sunshine Blog Award” and the “Versatile Writer Award”.

Ishwarya Sivakumar is the author over at Ishwarya Writes. Where she writes lovely blog posts mostly about fashion, cooking, healthy living, and parenting. Her posts are inspiring and beautifully done. If you have not checked out her blog please be sure that you make it there! I am already seeing some yummy dishes, to try! She offers so much insight into healthy living, her blog is just chuck full of information I can’t seem to stop reading!

Now on to the questions about my blog!
1. What is the story behind your blog name?
My blog name – Sticky Boogers – comes essentially from a nick name my husband and I call our three kids when they are well acting like sticky boogers! This saying is something that anyone who has a relationship with children will know all too well! But in case your not in the loop, picture wiping your child’s nose and ending up with sticky boogers on your hands. You know the ones that need a little extra Dawn dish soap to power through and remove from your skin!!! So I chose Sticky Boogers because, as homeschoolers that makes them a bit more ‘sticky’, in some cases no amount of Dawn and scrubbing will remove them!
2. When and why did you start blogging?
I originally started blogging during fall 2014 and stopped for a long time I originally had no intent of returning to writing. But, I decided it might be a fun way to interact with others, tell our family story, and maybe even help and encourage others along the way.
3. Where would you like to be in five years time?
Sleeping… I mean come on, I am one exhausted mama! Hahahaha only teasing! I have a simple mindset, meaning I am not planing an exact location of WHERE I would like to be. It is more of a WHO I would like to be with – So if I answer that question I would like to be with my family. Anywhere in the world, as long as we are all together I will be forever happy.
4. If you could write a letter to yourself ten years ago what is one thing you would tell your younger self?
I would tell my younger self, to look ahead to my goals, and not get distracted by the challenges in the present.
5. What do you find to be the most challenging part of blogging?
The hardest part for me is the grammar. So to all you grammar Natzi’s out there – please be kind- I have every intent of doing The Professors 2nd Grade grammar curriculum with him LOL.
6. If you could travel to anywhere in the world where would it be.
If I could go absolutely anywhere I would choose a small rural town in Maine. BUT only if I get to go in the fall!
7. What is your favorite food?
Well this one is easy, Chocolate – I am a woman after all – and just ask Karen over at Blue and Green Together. Just give me a salad and I am one happy gal!
8. What is one thing you want to do before you die?
I would like to have the opportunity to visit every country and write about my travels, the sights I see and the people I meet.
9. What is your favorite post that you have written?
This one is tough, as I have not written many yet. Can I take a pass on this hahaha.
10. What advise would you give to someone just starting a blog?
I would tell someone to share their story, the honest posts are the ones most connected to.
11. What is one goal in blogging that you would like to complete in the next year?
I would like to establish my own domain and sign up with a host. I am still learning what options are available for this and trying to decide what I actually need to meet my blogging goals.
